Tonight Northeastern travels to Lowell in the final Hockey East matchup of 2012. Lowell and Northeastern are both near the bottom of the rankings, and things just haven’t looked good as of late for Northeastern in particular. NU managed a win last weekend though UMass looked to be the better team, and Drew Ellement is likely out for a while with a concussion, weakening and already weak blueline. Luckily Colton Saucerman is supposed to be back tonight, but losing a guy like Ellement isn’t helping the situation. To make matters worse, Joe Manno has left the Huskies just a day ago, leaving Northeastern with 12 forwards. For a team that started off so packed with players, it’s now a question whether we can dress a full team.
To be honest, I have no clue what the lines might look like here. I think Rawlings might get the start but I haven’t heard anything about this and Madigan’s been a bit erratic lately.
Lowell is a very beatable team, and were this the beginning of the year I would have definitely thought NU should win. With the Huskies so depleted and their season going quite badly, I’m far less sure. Northeastern needs to come out of the gate attacking and not let up to show they’re ready to move forward, and if they can do that they can win.
