“Right now, we’re just not a very good hockey club”- Jim Madigan
There’s really not any other way to describe how Northeastern hockey is doing right now. They’re just not a good team. What’s disappointing is that on paper they should be better than this. But watching them play on Friday it was clear that what was on paper was simply not on the ice. There was virtually no offensive pressure during the game, and St. Lawrence dominated the majority of the play.
Going forward, it honestly doesn’t look as if it will get much better before the Holiday break. If Colton Saucerman is injured for a significant time and Gunn isn’t projected to start until January, then the already thin blueline gets even thinner. As the season goes on, it seems that the offense is simply unable to get the right chemistry. Madigan must have tried every possible line combination at this point, but nothing seems to be clicking, and the offensive pressure just isn’t there.
The team needs to have some sort of meeting and figure out what they need to do in order to right the ship immediately, because otherwise they’ll be out of the playoffs yet again.
