In a pretty rapid turn of events, Cam Darcy was listed on Muskegon’s (a USHL team) roster this morning and then a scant few hours later was confirmed to be leaving NU (immediately, reports indicate).
This is unbelievably bad news all around for NU. Unfortunately, we’ll likely never know the entire reason for why Darcy decided to depart from Northeastern. Was he failing courses and decided to leave before being declared ineligible Or was he upset with coaching or had locker room issues? Regardless of this news, the Huskies have now lost a forward they were counting on for the next year, and with the new people Madigan is bringing in for next year I’d imagine he knew something was in the wind at least for a week or two.
The Huskies now have 13 forwards, counting Morra who still may be injured, and not counting Marshall (who’s name seems to have fallen off the map and may not be expected to play for NU). That doesn’t give us much of any slack in the event someone else gets injured. This is not a good day for Northeastern Hockey.
