Recruit Update

I haven’t updated the recruit information for a while, but I’ve had some time to update the information as best I could. Some highlights:

-Daniel Willett won the defenseman of the week award in the Metro League for his 4 point weekend. Willett also leads the league in defenseman scoring overall and assists. Willett looks like a very solid offensive defenseman, and my guess is he’ll be in the EJHL or USHL next year.

-Speaking of offensive defensemen, Colton Saucerman is still out. I believe he may be out the rest of the year with an ACL injury, which might hamper his ability to come in next year and really contribute

-Northeastern also added another forward for next year, Michael McMurty of the Central Canadian Hockey League. He puts up top offensive numbers (leads his team in points), and is an overager. I’m curious to see what he turns out to be. He’s in a secondary league, and an overager, but he’s facig a lot of other overage players and he’s put up solid numbers despite being relatively small (5’10”).

-With Darcy, McMurty, and Belonger, that will likely wrap up our recruiting for next year, and if we get anyone else to come on board, it’ll likely mean someone’s leaving early (right now Quailer and Tuckerman are likely leaving, with McLaughlin graduating as well). There are some prospects if we have to do that, most notably K.J. Tiefenwerth, and it wouldn’t surprise me to see Madigan make an effort there, since he’s a top player in the EJHL and we could use more scoring. If he does that, and there’s no indication of anyone leaving, it might also mean someone like Dongara will be relegated further down the depth chart.
