Weekend review: Lost opportunities

Despite tying Providence twice this weekend, Northeastern lost a lot. They lost a tiebreaker against UMass (as UMass now equals NU in wins), meaning the Huskies need to cheer on UML for the Hockey East regular title.

While all 3 goals Rawlings let in were pretty soft, it’s not like he had a lot of support out there. Only scoring 3 goals on the weekend isn’t going to get you anywhere. Playing a tougher team like BU, BC, or Merrimack, and we would have been swept. Losing Vrolyk, Quailer, and Ferriero is really exposing how thin our offense is. Guys like Manno and Reid may very well be future solid contributors. But we really need them to step up now with so many people out of the lineup.

We have 4 games left. Playing Maine and BU, it might get ugly if they can’t score more.
