Vermont Recap

A weekend sweep. A great time to turn it around. There’s still plenty of hockey left, if they can keep up the way they’ve been playing, they could be a force to be reckoned with down the stretch.

The line shakeups really worked well. Scoring spread out over the weekend, and we were able to throw a lot of threats at UVM that they just couldn’t handle. Excellent work as well to keep up sustained offensive pressure. Being able to cycle the puck around, keep it in the zone, and cylce in fresh legs during the pressure were directly responsible for Karlsson’s second goal. The forecheck was great as well, pressuring UVM in it’s own zone, and keeping them from breaking out (not to mention being responsible for Tuckerman’s goal).

Additionally, the defense did their job. Props to Dan Cornell, who’s really proving to be a gem on the blueline. UVM didn’t get a lot of god chances during the game, they got driven to the sides a lot.

Finally, it’s important to remember one thing: UVM sucks. Scoring 4 goals actually lowered UVM’s goals allowed per game average. That’s just sad. The telling moment was when our 4th line kept UVM’s top line trapped in their zone their entire shift, and got a shot or two off on Madore. UVM even failed to capitalize on a 5 minute PP, which most other teams in the league likely would have scored on.

All in all, a great weekend. 4 much needed points. Let’s keep rolling
